Violence and swearing have not been issues for me as I have read this book. I think Pat Hughes uses the violence wisely and doesn't throw it around the pages just to "liven things up". The fights fit well into the story, adding suspense and making the story more believable.

Lately, literature books used in class have a strict policy of "no violence" and "no vulgarity." It might be inappropriate, and it might cause some giggles, sure, but these things are part of human life. We can't ignore them - it would be like ignoring global warming.

Matthew -

Your comments are so good, I want to make sure everybody gets to read them! So be sure to post them in the right place: you need to go to the bottom of the item you want to post on. PS, I think it's confusing too, because of the way the lines are placed :)

The swearing in Guerrilla Season is not, well over used. The parts where it's used matches with the part that you read. Even though swearing is bad, the use of it in the book works well I guess.

I do not agree with that criticism because there is not very much swearing in the book at all and the violence is a bear minimum.

I do not think yhat violence and swearing is not used to much for young adults in the book Guerrilla Season. There is very little violence and swearing wich makes it not that bad. I personally think that it makes the book better.
